If you haven’t already been thinking and working on images for Image Competition, what are you waiting for? Wouldn’t it be nice to win a new award to proudly display? Send out a PR notice and gain recognition in your town as an award-winning photographer! If you want more information on our image competition simply go to our website, and click on the tab for Image Competition, it’s that simple.

Our convention theme this year is “Rise above the noise.” Here is what’s to come.

Our own Al Weems currently has ten pieces hanging in “An Eclectic Mix” at the Spaulding R. Aldrich Heritage Gallery in Whitinsville, MA. The exhibit is available through March 1st.

Hunt’s Photo Walks & Workshops

Hunt’s Photo Walks are hands-on workshops that immerse the student in different aspects of photography, both technically and aesthetically. There is no better way to learn photography than through a hands-on experience, and these walks provide you with that opportunity. Our instructors will also give guided help to skill levels from beginner to advanced. Here are just a few that are being offered, visit http://edu.huntsphoto.com/photo-walks/ for a complete listing.

Hunt’s Photo Walk: Sports & Action- College Basketball

Friday March 1st, 6-10pm • Cabot Center, Northeastern U Women’s Basketball- NU vs. UNCW. On this walk, we will spend a few hours working on shooting action, proper white balance, panning action sequences, auto-focus for action, and subject development. Basketball is an exciting fast paced sport full of excitement. We will capture the action!

Lighting with Speedlights: Pop-Up Portraits

Saturday March 9th, 9am-3pm • Hunt’s Photo, Melrose. In this workshop we will discuss, demonstrate, and then practice with models how to set up a great portrait anywhere using speedlights off-the-camera in a straightforward, cohesive way.

Hunt’s Photo Walk: Sunrise at Nubble Light and York Beach

Saturday, March 16th • 5:30-9am, York, Maine. On this walk, we will photograph Nubble Light in this very light at sunrise, then continue along to nearby York Beach.

Hunt’s Photo Walk: Tower Hill Botanic Gardens

Friday, March 22nd • Boylston, MA, 1-5pm Featuring macro photography with plants and flowers and the chance for scenery Instructor(s): Paul Nelson & Emily Hojnowski Class size: Maximum 12 attendees

Capture & Edit: Macro in Black & White

Saturday March 30th, 9am-5pm • Hunt’s Photo, Melrose. Join Hunt’s Photo Education as we workshop how to “see”, effectively compose and create macro images, and finally edit in black & white.
