Fall has arrived! With school children to photograph, families starting to think about Holiday card pictures, and high school seniors wrapping up, it’s a busy time of year for many of us. In the midst of all that, our Board members are hard at work planning monthly programs as well as our 2020 convention. We’ve decided to mix it up a bit and experiment with the footprint of convention. Instead of trying to do everything in a weekend we’ll be spacing things out. Image competition, speakers, our annual meeting, and awards program will be on several non-adjoining days. We’re researching speakers, lining up judges, and working on some interactive ideas that we hope you’ll enjoy and participate in. More information will be available as things come together.
I hope you got to join us for Kris Ventresco’s Off-Camera Flash program. We had great attendance and folks got to use their cameras and Kris’s lighting. I took advantage of Hunt’s Photo & Video’s Association discounts and picked up two Yongnuo flash heads and stands and have incorporated them into a wedding and two family sessions in the past three weeks.
Jackie organized a September Social at Blazing Edition’s Gallery in East Greenwich. It was the perfect venue to be inspired by the traveling artwork from John Paul Caponigro and Joyce Tenneson while catching up with other photographers.
Rounding out 2019 will be a program by Kim Fuller on November 20th. You can register now! We’re holding the program at Harris Bar & Grill so we can dine together beforehand at 5:30pm. So mark your calendar to arrive early and eat with friends. I always walk away from these conversations with some tidbit that makes my life easier! Then on December 8th is our Holiday Party. Please set the evening aside to celebrate a year of health, inspiring work and friendship.
A reminder that we always welcome new volunteers, either to fill a Board Position or to help on a particular project or program. You’ll get so much more than you give when you volunteer. Reach out to me with questions or ideas.
Enjoy the warm sunshine, crisp air and beautiful scenery that we’re fortunate to have in New England.
